Depending on how you use Playground, we may collect:
Account and profile data
- name, display name, username;
- email address, phone number, and login details;
- age or date of birth;
- photos, profile text, prompts, preferences, and settings.
Matching and meetup data
- your intent selections, availability, interests, and meetup preferences;
- who you interact with;
- meetup proposals, approvals, skips, favorites, and meetup history;
- signals derived from your activity in the app.
Location and place data
- your general or precise location, if you allow it;
- city selections, travel plans, and location-based availability;
- place and venue preferences linked to your use of the app.
Messages and support data
- messages you send and receive;
- reports, support requests, and safety-related submissions.
Device and usage data
- device information, app version, and log data;
- analytics about how you use the app.
Payment data
If you buy Balloons or another paid feature, payments are processed by Apple. We do not receive your full payment card details.
4. How we use your data
We use personal data to:
- create and operate your account;
- provide matching, meetup, messaging, and location-based features;
- personalize people, places, timing, and meetup suggestions;
- process purchases and manage paid features;
- keep the app safe, investigate abuse, and enforce our rules;
- provide support and respond to requests;
- improve the app, analytics, reliability, and performance;
- comply with legal obligations.
5. Legal bases
Where UK GDPR applies, we rely on one or more of these legal bases:
- Contract — to provide the app and its core features to you;
- Legitimate interests — to improve the service, prevent abuse, secure the app, and understand usage;
- Consent — where required, including for certain optional features and certain sensitive data;
- Legal obligation — where we must comply with law.
6. Sharing
We may share your data:
- with other users, as needed for core app features;
- with Mixpanel, which we use for product analytics;
- with Apple if you buy Balloons or another paid feature;
- with law enforcement, regulators, courts, or other authorities where required by law or where necessary for safety or legal claims;
- in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
We do not sell your personal data.
7. Location privacy
Playground may use your location to power proximity and place-based features. Your precise location is not shared directly with other users.
8. Moderation and message review
We may review messages or other content only if a user report, safety issue, abuse investigation, or legal obligation makes that necessary.
9. International transfers
Some of our service providers may process personal data outside the UK. Where that happens, we use appropriate safeguards where required by law.
10. Retention and deletion
